Lille vs Lyon Match Prediction

Lille vs Lyon Match Prediction

Lille will looking to put their Ligue 1 campaign back on track when they welcome Lyon at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Friday, October 18th. Lille are an entirely different team in this early part of the Ligue 1 campaign in comparison to the previous season when they finished in 5th position. They enter the fray looking to return to winning ways in Ligue 1, having most recently lost 1-0 on the road against AngersThis was their third 1-0 defeat in their last four league fixtures. Overall, Les Dogues have only won three of their twelve league games so far this season. This leaves Lille in 18th position in the Ligue 1 table with only 10 points to their name after twelve rounds. Keeping the ball out of the net has been Lille’s main issue throughout this campaign, as they hold one of the worst defensive records in the division with 18 goals conceded in 12 league games. On home soil, Lille were on a two-game winning streak in Ligue 1 prior to their 0-1 defeat against PSG in their most recent home league fixture. Overall, Lille have only won three of their last 19 home games in all competitions. Furthermore, Les Dogues are undefeated in their last nine home meetings with Lyon in all competitions, winning six and drawing three in the process.

LYON PREVIEW

On the other hand, Lyon have struggled for consistency from the middle of October, but it appears that they've managed to put their campaign back on track recently. Les Gones come into this fixture off the back of a three-game unbeaten streak in all competitions, which includes a 2-1 home win over SC Bastia prior to the International break. Alexandre Lacazette gave Lyon the lead at half-time and increased this advantage through an own-goal by Pierre Bengtsson with just four minutes to go. The bad news is that Lyon conceded once in the stoppage time, despite the fact Bastia only played with nine men after Yannick Cahuzac and Jean-Louis Leca were both sent off. This lifts Lyon to 7th place in the Ligue 1 table tied on 19 points with Toulouse and Bordeaux. Lyon looked decent going forward throughout this Ligue 1 campaign, as they hold the 4th best offensive record in the division with 20 goals scored in twelve rounds. Alexandre Lacazette is Lyon’s topscorer at the moment with 10 goals in his eight league appearances, even though he was out with an injury for a month.Lyon aren’t regarded as good travellers, as they have only won two of their last nine away fixtures in all competitions.Mounir Obbadi, Junior Tallo and Eric Bautheac are all doubts, while Ryan Mendes is missing through injury. The good news is that Nicolas De Preville and Marcos Lopes are both back in training.Gueida Fofana and Christophe Jallet are both doubts, while Rachid Ghezzal and Mathieu Valbuena are both missing with injuries. Both sides have been struggling for consistency over the past few weeks, and both are looking to put their campaign back on track.
